Ban Phe Markets
There are plenty of Ban Phe markets and night markets just a few minutes from Mae Rumphueng Beach. There’s one on Nai Rai, one in Ban Phe and another in Taphong. Photos and map located below.
Given the relaxed, quiet nature of this corner of Thailand, most Ban Phe markets begin in late afternoon around 3-4pm and tend to wind down around 8pm or so. They all happen on different days of the week too, so basically there is a night market somewhere every night of the year.
Ban Phe Markets
The largest outdoor market around, Ban Phe feels more like a twice a week town gathering. Locals — both expat and Thai — rendezvous here for delicious food, cold beer, and good conversation. All your grocery shopping for the week can be done here at this one destination. You can also find sushi, baked breads and deserts, and fresh homemade juice.
The Ban Phe market happens every Monday and Thursday.
Located on the highway in the brand new covered area at Taphong, the market here is very popular with Thai locals but not so much with foreigners because of its distance from the beach. However there is still an amazing selection of delicious food here, and it is definitely worth the trip. Taphong market takes place every Tuesday and Saturday.
Nai Rai Market
The Nairai Market is closest to the condos on Mae Rumphueng Beach. It can be reached in a few minutes by bicycle, or a bit longer if walking. This market offers an excellent selection of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as fish and poultry, sushi, fresh spring rolls, pad thai, mango sticky rice (yummy), clothing and small household items. It is open every Tuesday and Saturday beginning around 3pm.
